Unit 1: Our Body System
1.1
Our Skeletal System
Our skeletal system made of bones and joints. There are 206 bones inside
our body. The shape of the bones are straight, curved, long, and short. Our
skull give our head its shape. It protects our brain. The rib cage protects our
hearts and lungs. Our skeleton support or body and give our body its shape.
Joints allows us to move in different ways. The ball and socket join
allow us to swing our arm in circles. The hinge joint allow our leg to move
back and forth in one direction.
1.2
Our Muscular System
The muscles in our body make up muscular system. Muscles are thick,
stretchy band that cover our skeleton. Muscles work in pair, when one muscle
contracts, it partner muscle relaxes.
1.3
Caring our Muscular and Skeletal
System.
We should have a balanced diet to keep our bones and muscles strong.
Drinking milk is good for our bones. Eating lean meat is good for our muscles.
We should also drink a lot of water.
We should exercise regularly. Be
careful not to overwork our bones and muscles or injure them.
1.4
Our Digestive System
Digestion is a process where the food is changed inside our body into
simple substance. Some parts in our digestive system are mouth, gullet,
stomach, small intestine, and large intestine. The saliva help to digest the
food slightly and make the food soft. The gullet transport food from mouth into
our stomach. The food in stomach is digested with digestive juice. More
digestive juice will be added at small intestine. The undigested food is
collected in large intestine and taken out through anus.
1.5
Caring Our Digestive System
We can aid digestion by eating more fruits and vegetables and drink more
water. We can also aid digestion by chewing food properly. We must have good
hygiene habits when storing, handling, and eating food. Wash your hand before touching food, wash the
fruit and vegetables before eating them, and clean and cook food properly.
Don’t forget to check the dates on the packaged food.
