UNIT 2: CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

Lesson 2.2:  Journey Of Blood In Our Body
Our circulatory system circulates blood in two parts:
-          From the heart to all parts of our body
-          From all parts of our body back to our heart

Lesson 2.3: Pulse
Heart beat is a cycle of contraction and relaxation of our heart muscles.
We can take our pulse by pressing two fingers on our wrist.
The number of pulses in a minute is our pulse rate.
The heart rate of an average healthy adult is 60 t0 70 times per minutes
Our heart rate changes with our age, health, and type of activity we are doing.

Lesson 2.4: Illness Related To Our Circulatory System
Illness of the circulatory system may affect our:
-          Blood pressure
-          Heart and blood vessels
-          Blood

Lead to
Hypertension
high blood pressure
Smoking, a diet high in fat or salt, overweight, lack of exercise, and stress.
arteriosclerosis, heart attack, stroke, and kidney failure.
Arteriosclerosis
The walls of affected arteries stiffen.
To much fat or fatty substance
Heart attack
Anemia
red blood cells in our body is low
lack of iron or large blood loss.

Leukemia
white blood cells multiply abnormally in the bone marrow
blood cancer


Lesson 2.5 keeping our circulatory system healthy
-          Exercise regularly
-          Not smoke, consume alcohol or drugs
-          Have balanced diet
-          Drink a lot of water
-         Go for annual body checkup.

Lesson 2.6 Relationship Between Digestive, Circulatory, And Respiratory System.
Food is digested – digested food absorbed into the blood – digested food and oxygen carried to all body part.
